We provided the scaffold design for a heavy-duty protection gantry in Vauxhall, London. The gantry was designed to support a loading capacity of 10kN/m² — significantly above standard requirements — to provide robust overhead protection during the works programme.
The gantry required steel boards throughout for fire rating compliance, adding considerable dead load to the scaffold structure. A Layher public access staircase was incorporated as a secondary fire escape route, with protective façade panels fitted to the full height. The hoarding utilised the Leach’s Super Hoard system to maintain site security and public separation at ground level.
The combination of heavy-duty loading, fire-rated decking, public access staircase and protective hoarding made this a technically demanding package requiring careful load path design and coordination between multiple system types.
Full scaffold design package for the protection gantry including structural calculations for the 10kN/m² loading, fire-rated steel board specification, Layher staircase integration and hoarding interface details. 2D construction drawings and 3D model issued to the contractor.
